Privacy
What we do with your information.
Two different things are covered here. The first is this website, which collects almost nothing. The second is the CargoRoute application, where a trucking carrier keeps its own business records, some of them about people.
This website
What we collect
Nothing you type. This website has no forms, no accounts and no sign-up: it is pages to read, with links to the demo and an email address.
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you tell us, and we use them to answer you.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising or other third-party scripts. Its fonts and images are served from this site.
Technical data
Like any website, the servers that deliver these pages process technical data such as your IP address and browser type in order to respond, and our hosting provider may keep short-term logs for security and reliability.
Links to other sites
The demo and the application are separate services at their own addresses. The demo holds sample data: do not enter real information into it.
The CargoRoute application
Whose data it is
A carrier that uses CargoRoute decides what goes into its workspace and who can see it. That data belongs to the carrier, and we handle it on the carrier's behalf, to provide the service and for nothing else. We do not sell it and we do not use it for advertising.
If you are a driver, or a contact at one of a carrier's customers, and you have a question about information a carrier holds about you, ask that carrier first. We will help them answer.
What a workspace holds
- Account information. The name, email address and role of each person invited to the workspace. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash.
- Driver information. Name, phone, email, driver number, CDL number, state, class and expiration date, medical card expiration date, hire date, endorsements and restrictions, and the driver's pay rules and settlements. The application has no fields for Social Security numbers, dates of birth or bank account numbers.
- Customers and their contacts. Company names, addresses, MC and DOT numbers, and the names, phone numbers and email addresses of contacts.
- Load data. Stops and appointments, freight, rates, the driver and equipment assigned, mileage, and the history of each load's status.
- Uploaded documents. PODs, BOLs, rate confirmations, CDLs, medical cards, registrations, insurance, receipts and incident photos. A document holds whatever is printed on it.
- Invoice and billing records. Invoices, recorded payments and credits, settlements, fuel, tolls and expenses. CargoRoute records payments; it does not process them, and it has no fields for full card or bank account numbers.
- Incident records. What happened and who was involved, which can include the contact and insurance details of a third party.
- Logs and technical data. An audit trail of who changed what and when, and a record of the emails the application sent. Our hosting and sign-in providers also process technical data such as IP addresses in order to deliver the service, and keep their own logs.
Cookies in the application
The application sets the cookies that keep a person signed in, and one that remembers their display and accessibility settings. It sets no analytics or advertising cookies and loads no tracking scripts.
Who else handles it
We use service providers to run the application, and they process data only to provide that service to us:
- a hosting platform, and a managed database and file storage, which hold a workspace's data;
- an email delivery provider, which receives the recipient's address and the content of an invitation or reminder;
- the US National Weather Service, which is sent the coordinates of a stop to return its forecast;
- a postal code lookup service, which is sent a ZIP code to return its city and state.
Ask us and we will tell you which providers we use.
Keeping and deleting
A workspace's records are kept for as long as the carrier keeps its account. Business records are archived rather than erased, so the history of a load or an invoice stays intact. An Owner or Manager can permanently delete an uploaded document, except issued invoice and settlement PDFs.
We have not set a fixed schedule for how long a closed account's data is kept. To have a workspace's data exported or deleted, an Owner of that workspace writes to us.
More detail
How access is limited, how files are stored and what can be exported are described on the Security & data page.
Your choices
Questions and requests
If you use CargoRoute through your employer, the Owner of your company's workspace can correct or remove most of what it holds about you. For anything else, including a question about this page, write to support@cargoroutetms.com.
